Chair of the Student Committee

Thank you for your interest in Willis Business Law. I am proud to serve as Chair of the Student Committee. Willis Business Law is an exciting place to learn and work. As a business law firm, our public and private sector clients constantly challenge us with complex, unique, and stimulating deliverables.

Our students play a vital role in the work we do. As a student at Willis Business Law, you will be directly involved in our team-based approach to solving these challenges.

I encourage you to meet our team members and learn more about our firm.

Our Student Program

Lawyers and students at Willis Business Law have the opportunity to make their own mark on the firm early in their careers and contribute to its growth and future success.  All of our lawyers and staff members share certain core values including integrity, enthusiasm, and respect for one another.

As a Willis Business Law student,  you will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to transactions that are critical to our clients’ success.  Our students are fully immersed and engaged in a variety of sophisticated transactions.  Our students are afforded a high degree of autonomy and responsibility from the outset – as we think that students learn best “by doing”.

Our student’s role varies based on the deliverable. As a student at Willis Business Law, you may be involved in such things as:

  • drafting key legal documents (such as purchase agreements, loan documents, and commercial leases);
  • conducting legal due diligence on businesses;
  • coordinating the closing of transactions;
  • dealing with regulatory bodies; and
  • researching complex legal issues.

The scope of a student’s work is broad and our students are given a high level of responsibility, all within a dynamic and supportive work environment.

Meet Our Students

Lidia Imbrogno

Articling Student, 2018/2019

Lidia is a recent graduate of the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. During the summer of her second year of law school, Lidia worked with our firm as a summer student. Prior to working at our firm, she worked for the National Self-Represented Litigants Project. In this role, Lidia was responsible for multiple legal research projects including leading a team of researchers in compiling a database of case law pertaining to self-represented litigants. Lidia is very involved in the Windsor Law community, participating in multiple fundraising initiatives and sitting on the 2020 Windsor Law Admissions Committee.

Lidia has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Certificate in Public Relations, both from Ryerson University. Growing up in an entrepreneurial environment, and having worked in marketing and P.R. prior to going to law school, much of Lidia’s professional interests lie in business development and corporate growth strategy.

In her spare time Lidia likes travelling with her partner, enjoying her neighborhood of Walkerville, and spending time with her rescue beagle Quenn.

Christian Janisse

Articling Student, 2018/2019

Christian is a recent graduate of Western University’s Faculty of Law and past graduate of the MBA program at the Odette School of Business. During his MBA, Christian worked as a student consultant and project manager for the University of Windsor’s EPIcentre where he advised local entrepreneurs and start-ups from various industries including healthcare, software and application development, and consumer products.

In 2017, Christian had the opportunity to be involved in the University of Windsor’s first international interdisciplinary course. This team-based experiential course involved grouping Canadian business students with science students from the United Kingdom to develop a start-up idea using the Lean Startup methodology. At the end of the term, the team visited Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England to pitch its ideas to a panel of business experts and academic researchers.

Aside from his work, Christian enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and running.
