During my articles at the firm, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of corporate work. From complex leases to shareholders agreements and to employment issues, it was always interesting to learn about new industries while working on client matters. The lawyers include me in client interactions and always take the time to provide mentorship. I am proud to support our client from the beginning of a matter all the way to a successful closing.

Willis Business Law’s summer program provides a comprehensive learning experience. The program not only prepares students for articling, but also maintains an environment of education and self-improvement. The Willis Business Law team works together to ensure that students are being supported and coached constantly, while offering the autonomy for students to learn and grow through their work. During my summer I was given the opportunity to research a number of complex legal issues around commercial real estate and labour matters, draft several documents, and sit in on meetings with Founding Partner William Willis. Most importantly the summer allowed me to gain insight on Willis Business Law’s innovative approach to client service. I am truly looking forward to returning to Willis Business Law as an articling student this summer.

Throughout my articles at Willis Business Law, I was involved in a multitude of corporate, commercial, real estate and employment matters. My time at Willis Business Law as both a summer and articling student was instrumental in shaping not only my legal skills, but also my professional identity. Coming into private practice after a career in public policy, I hadn’t yet had the chance to truly apply my legal education in a hands-on way. Working at the firm allowed me to bridge that gap.
